Une lecture critique de cet ouvrage permet de faire ressortir sa dimension de militance pour un standard sexuel cis-hétéro-normativant, standard donnant consistance à la notion de cisidentité au nom de la psychanalyse, et faisant du genre un nouvel avatar de la politisation du corps de l’enfant. L’article resouligne la portée de scandale de la sexualité infantile, qui trouve dans l’ouvrage un nouveau topos idéologique. In 2022, psychoanalysts Caroline Eliacheff and Céline Masson published The Making of the Transgender-Child. In a controversial style, the book is promoted as presenting a psychoanalytical critical point of view on a trans-ideology, allegedly carrying a « sanitary scandal » of which indoctrinated children are said to be the victims, locked up in a movement presented as akin to a cult. A critical reading of this work allows us to highlight its militant dimension for a cis-hetero-normative sexual standard, giving to the cis-identity notion a consistency, in the name of psychoanalysis, and making gender a new manifestation of the politicization of children’s bodies. Nous verrons comment les recherches de Freud sur l’hystérie l’ont mené à formuler le complexe d’Œdipe positif et négatif avec pour pendant le narcissisme homosexuel, de sorte à expliquer l’homosexualité par l’absence du père. Nous verrons ensuite comment Ray Blanchard a repris les postulats freudiens dans la psychologie contemporaine afin d’expliquer l’homosexualité et les transidentités par un lien paternel défaillant. La constitution par Blanchard du diagnostic d’autogynéphilie a été intégrée au DSM-5, et l’arsenal pseudo-scientifique entourant ce concept continue de structurer la théorie psychiatrique à échelle mondiale tout en ignorant les recherches scientifiques autour du genre produites par les premières personnes concernées. This paper focuses on the links between psychoanalytic theories about narcissism, homosexuality and the psychiatric construction of transgender identities and transvestism. It shows the way Freud’s research on hysteria brought him to formulate the positive and negative oedipal complexes, and their interaction with his theories on homosexual narcissism. This leads him to explain the etiology of homosexuality by the fathers’ absence. It then analyses how Ray Blanchard worked with those Freudian postulates in contemporary psychology to explain homosexuality and transgender identities by a faulty paternal relationship. The constitution of the concept of autogynephilia by Blanchard was then integrated in the DSM-5.
